Squarespace Website Builder – Pros And Cons

Squarespace is one of the best website builders that knows how to stage its product with perfection. It looks fresh, cool, and eye-catching. No other website builder is as nice to look at as Squarespace. It has advanced blogging tools and support along with 100+ eye-catching templates to choose from. All of its templates are fully compatible with the mobile view. They specialize in building websites for portfolios, bloggers, and online stores. In this article, we will discuss the pros and cons of using the Squarespace website builder.

Pros Of Using The Squarespace Website Builder

As Squarespace is very popular among bloggers and online stores it has a ton of advantages to offer. Some of them have been listed below:

1. Variety Of Templates And Designs

Squarespace has always been known for its cool, calming, and impeccable designs. It has almost 100+ sophisticated designs and templates to choose from. They have made it their specialty. They keep themselves updated with new designs every now and then. Their plus point is that all their templates are fully responsive and compatible with the mobile view.

2. Easy To Use

Even if you are a beginner, don’t worry, Squarespace has something to offer for you as well. Its user interface is minimalist which makes it easy to use and looks modern and sophisticated. Moreover, all of its plans are ad-free which takes less time to load.

3. Support

Due to the option of live chat, they answer all of your queries instantly. Their response is very positive and you can always ask them about all the steps and queries that you have while creating or maintaining a website.

4. Mobile Apps

Squarespace has four different mobile apps and all of them are compatible with iOS as well as android. One of these apps can be used to edit all the aspects of your websites which include webpages, blogs, images, and stores.

5. Languages

One of the major plus points of Squarespace is that it supports all the languages. It also has 6 interface languages which include EN, ES, FR, DE, IT, and PT. So it does not create any language barrier for anyone.

Cons Of Using Squarespace

Squarespace is very good for creating small websites for blogs or online stores but due to three major drawbacks, it is almost impossible to create big and heavy landing pages using Squarespace. All three cons of Squarespace are listed below:

1. Usability Of Website Editor

After making even some small changes Squarespace will ask you whether to save it or not. It becomes difficult when you have to make a number of changes every day. Instead of asking, it should autosave all the changes with a backup. And if you save a wrong change by mistake, it does not have an undo button to undo that change. Its major drawback is that it will publish all the changes immediately, which is inconvenient while doing large updates.

2. Single Sub-Navigation

Due to one sub-navigation, it is impossible to create a larger website that needs a deep menu hierarchy. In short, it is not possible to create a multilingual website using Squarespace.

3. Speed

Their templates are slow while loading and are rated as slow by Google’s page speed tool. It gives a bad user experience, especially on mobile devices which may lead to lower search engine rankings.

Conclusion

Squarespace might be good for people who want a minimalist website but can be too minimalistic for others. It also has difficult usability for a website building editor which can be a turn off for many. On the other hand, if you are someone who wants to start their own personal blog or an online store which should look good and eye-catching then Squarespace is perfect for you as long as your website is small. For large websites that want a deep navigation menu, it is nearly impossible to work with Squarespace. It depends on your needs whether Squarespace will be compatible with you or not.
