  • Determine what you love about their work and see if you can apply it to your own writing.
  • Is a writer you admire known for injecting comedy into dry subjects?

For the past ten years, I’ve been writing professionally in some capacity. I shudder every time I look back at my early work, which I do on a regular basis. I do this to remind myself of how far I’ve come, not because I’m a masochist.

16. Keep in mind that “done” is preferable to “perfect.”

Take your time to write as well as you can, reread and edit your work completely, and make sure your workflows logically from one point to the next. This does not, however, imply that you should take weeks to compose something.

Confusing Writing: What Questions Should You Ask?

Is the meaning of the statement clear? (For example, is the topic ‘Great Blue Herons’ or ‘herons’ in general?)

Is it apparent why the author wants to investigate this subject? (To put it another way, what is the writer’s point here?)

Is there an obvious connection between each statement and the others? (Is there a clarification, a rebuttal, a rationale, or an example in this sentence?)

Is there an obvious connection between each word and the others? (Pay careful attention to terms like ‘it’ and ‘them.’)

Here are a few items that I find intriguing:

  • Even though the sentences in this paragraph are lengthier and have more difficult syntax than the paragraph about Great Blue Herons, the language in this paragraph is much clearer.
  • The first line’s core idea (the unknown must be discovered) is abstract and intellectual, and while the extra words in the sentence don’t offer specifics, they do create a lyrical cadence that entices you to continue reading.
  • The last line in the paragraph, on the other hand, paints a vivid image in your mind. We have fisherman and a dark sea instead of nebulous phrases like concept and form.
  • Unlike the heron text, this writer does not use many words to explain the same subject. Despite the abstract terms and pronouns in the text, she repeatedly repeats the words artists and unknown, which helps the reader understand her thinking.

Spend Time on Your Headline and Introductions as a Bonus

  • Investing time in your introductions is one of the finest methods to enhance your writing abilities.
  • People will notice your headline and introduction first when they view your post on social media or when they click over from Google or other sites.
  • While several fantastic headline themes are available, you don’t need to be fancy to have a great title.

With my headlines, I like to do the following:

Use juicy words (simple, easy, fast, brilliant, fantastic, quick, etc.) in your headline to get more clicks.

ü Emphasize the advantage – What will readers gain from reading your post? It’s all about honing your writing abilities for this one.

ü Indicate a person – I identify who this piece is for in many of my headlines — novices, freelance writers, new bloggers, and so on.

You may also include the following in your headline:

ü Numbers \ Year

ü It’s been dubbed an “ultimate” or “complete” handbook.

ü Using the best of the best
