Can Inbound Linking Damage My Ranking?

The answer is simple – inbound links can not hurt your search rankings . How is this certainly known? First, if inbound would hurt your rank, your competitors would constantly link to your site from link farms. Such a scenario is beyond your control. For this reason, Google cannot penalize your site for inbound links.

On the other hand, you can be punished for illegal external linking. It is strongly recommended that you do not link to any website or group of websites that may be involved in shady or unethical search methods. Doing so can be blacklisted by Google and ultimately ruin your SEO strategy. Avoid this situation at all costs and make sure that all external links point to reliable and trustworthy sources.

Having been involved in the internet industry for a large part of my working life, I have spent a lot of time researching and surfing the internet and reading websites, mainly for customer design research, but also for occasional personal use. The only thing that I find most disappointing is the obvious lack of thought in creating websites and its purpose, which in turn creates a missed opportunity for many e-businesses to become successful.

My personal perspective on e-business and their websites is that if they are not proud of their websites and show their customers a passion for what they do, chances are they will not be proud of their products and passion for providing good customer service will also be missing.

What you need to remember is that your website is a direct reflection of you and your business. Your website appearance is the most important factor in determining your potential success rate. In short, if your site does not look professional or appealing at first glance, most people will assume that your products and / or services are of a similarly poor standard.

At the other end of the scale, you can fall into the trap of going overboard with the design and complicating things by including high-cost cracked graphics. You can end up with a nice and very aesthetic website, but the risk with this is that your website may prove unreliable and can sometimes take too long to load. There is nothing worse for a customer than trying to visit a site with slow loading, and most people close the browser window in total frustration. Since I’m sure you’ll be able to train, this will ultimately cost you business.

The second important consideration (if not the most important) when designing a website is your content. Not just links but content with passion, relativity and understanding to the customer. When someone searches for something special and they visit your site, they visit for a reason. Your website has something they want, whether it’s your product, service and / or information. If they can not get what they are looking for, they go on to the next website and so on. In order to get your visitors to stop and look around your site, you need to give them a reason to. Providing them with quality content will achieve this goal.

There have been countless other lists and articles about the site to design mistakes, but I have compiled my own list, from the designers’ perspective, of some pitfalls to watch out for when considering either designing a site or buying a template. Remember that the simple, clear, informative and well-designed websites are the most successful. If you are a current e-business and your sales are not as you hoped, consider the above and take the time to look openly and honestly at your website. Spending money on improving your website is a much better investment than throwing money at trying to market and promote a website that just isn’t good enough to sell your product or services.

If you are looking for a template or a specially designed website, be aware of the above and be prepared to ask questions of your chosen designer or template supplier to ensure that your hard earned money is not wasted on a worse design, which contains any of the above . Asking questions will not cost you a penny, and doing so can actually save you a lot of money in the long run. Getting your website right the first time is important when it comes to saving money and time. The earlier your website is up and running, the faster you will be able to benefit from a successful e-business.

The main mistake that beginners make is to put their site name in Anchor Text. If your website does not contain your keywords, it is a waste of a perfectly good link. Remember that Google attaches great importance to these anchor texts and that they should always use your keywords.

The second mistake is to try to put every keyword in your anchor text and give it to everyone. There are two mistakes with this technology. 1.) Google assigns weight to each word in anchor text, so if there are many filler words (common in long sentences), they will “dilute” your target words.

According to two recent surveys conducted by Forrester Research and the Gartner Group, e-commerce sites lose $ 1.1 billion to $ 1.3 billion in revenue each year due to customers clicking away due to slow charging sites. If it takes too long to load a page, your potential customer is not waiting. In the end, you cost business.

Make sure you include the correct META tags in the HTML of each page of your site. META tags are HTML code that enables search engines to determine which keywords are relevant to a specific website. About 80 percent of all website traffic comes from the eight major search engines. It would be a good idea to make sure that you have done your homework and that you understand how to optimize your web pages before designing your website. This will save a lot of headaches in the long run. For more information on META tags, read the tutorial entitled “Build Your Website.”

Be careful when choosing background and text colors. Busy background makes the text difficult to read and draws attention away from the text. Always be consistent with your background theme on every page of your site. Your website should be neatly organized and consistent at all times. Keep in mind that colors affect your mood and will also affect your visitors. Bright colors like yellow and orange make you happier or happier, while colors like blue and purple have a calming effect. Dark colors such as brown and black have a depressing effect. A good rule of thumb would be to use colors based on the type of effect you are trying to achieve.

Your main page should specifically let your visitors know exactly what you are offering. How many times have you visited a website and never figured out exactly what they were selling? If your potential customer can not find your product or service, they are definitely not wasting much time looking for it. They continue to the next site and will probably never return. They visit your site for a specific purpose. They want something that your website offers. Whether it is information, a product or a service.

Design your website so that it can be easily navigated. Place your navigation links at the top, bottom, left or right of the page. Use tables to neatly adjust your links. If you plan to use graphic buttons to navigate your site, keep in mind that for every graphic you add to your page, it will take much longer for your page to load. If you only have a handful of navigation links, it’s good to use graphical buttons. If you have over six links, it is wise to simply use text links to keep the download time.

If you must use frames, use them sparingly. Frames, if not used properly, can make your site look unprofessional. Avoid having your visitors scroll from page to page to see your content. This can be very annoying and make your visitors leave. If you must use frames, offer your visitors a choice. Frames verses No frames. Try to keep the number of clicks required to get from your main page to another page on your site to four. Keep in mind that your visitors may enter your site from pages other than your main one. Always have good navigation links on each page and place the company logo on each page.

Design a high quality e-book to provide to your visitors. It’s not as difficult as it sounds. If you can create a web page, you can create an e-book. The focus of your e-book should compliment your website. Just write about your passion. If your passion is sales, you can share your knowledge and experience by designing your e-book to provide a complete sales guide. If your passion is home-based business, you can write an e-book on how to start your own home-based business. If you are writing about your true passion, you should have no problem coming up with something to write about. For more information on e-books, read the article “How to create an e-book and drive massive traffic to your site by giving it away.”
